After boasting about managing border disputes without firing a bullet for decades, India and China look poised to escalate the latest skirmish at Doka La into a larger armed conflict. With the Chinese state media moving ahead with break-neck speed, it appears like the PLA is already preparing the country for a war that may spin out into a long drawn conflict. The conditions too mirror the 1962 war with China when India barely manged to scrape through. However, the retreat was definitely not for the want of will to fight or short supply of bravery. Thousands of Indian soldiers fought the invading Chinese army in Ladakh with just bayonets and guns without bullets.

Haqeeqat, that will be telecast on Zee Classic at 9.00 am on 15th August on India’s 71st Independence Day, tells the story of one such group of soldiers who gave up their lives holding off the Chinese army.
